19 of the Russian's 21 titles have been earned on hardcourt

A revitalized the Russian player claimed his first title for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a former number one, has endured a torrid year, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in particular - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Currently working with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has steadily advanced in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought three-set triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

It is his initial championship after the Rome competition and initial on a hard surface since that period of 2023.

Success also indicates he has won 21 championships at twenty-one various competitions.

"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my both daughters together, so to get a title is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 the champion.

"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six finals, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

His retrieving approach and frequent emotional displays on court had led observers to doubt if his capacity to perform at the top level was finished.

However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and play assertively, backed up by an improved service.

He fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, taking 4 of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair traded service breaks in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his initial ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

The opponent defended 4 early break points in a tight deciding set before the Russian broke to 15 to secure the win.

Fittingly, he earned the win with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to control a shot after a lengthy match.
